The main usage of nickel is as an alloy element in steel industry, catalyst for hydrogenation, cathodes for rechargeable batteries, pigments and metal surface treatments.It is used as a coating material on steels, Mg and Al alloys to improve theircorrosion-resistance behaviors. Nickel coating can also improvelight absorption on solar collector receivers.It is often evaporated in vacuumto form a decorative coating on ceramic surfaces or a layer in circuit device, magnetic storage media, fuel cells, and sensors.
