Lewis Cole is a Los Angeles-based drummer, singer-songwriter, and producer with a DIY aesthetic who has demonstrated his talent in a wide variety of fields. Cole has received rave reviews from the likes of Letchli, Quincy Jones, Flying Lotus, and others, and he was the drummer for his friend Thundercat's 2022 tour of Japan, which drew a lot of attention. This is his first album in four years and is released from Brainfeeder. The album features a mix of musicians including Genevieve Artadi, who writes, performs, and produces music at her home studio and also works with Nowhere; saxophonist Sam Gendel, a friend of 17 years; pianist Chris Fishman; Nate Wood from the 5-piece jam band Neibody, and drummer Jake Harris from the Bakersfield music scene. Bakersfield music scene stalwart Marlon McKee, and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel are among the guests.The album features 20 tracks, including "I'm Tight," a Lewis Cole-style funk tune with a funky bass line and smooth, precise drumming, and "Let It Happen," which he describes as "a modern power ballad that transcends time. Lewis Cole, who has been described by Thundercat as "one of the greatest musicians in Los Angeles" and has garnered attention from all quarters, has produced an album that can be called his masterpiece.
